Summit House is a Readers' Choice Award Recipient for Retirement Living in North Iowa
Tenant of the Month
Anne was born on a farm in Hancock County on April 28, 1926. Her family moved around a lot, so she went to many country schools until she started high school in Crystal Lake. She graduated from there in 1943. After graduation, Anne began teaching in rural schools for 3 years. Then she moved to Pomeroy and taught there for 3 years. She was married to Andrew in 1950 and they lived in Ruthven
and Anne taught school at Lake Center. Anne and Andrew had 3 children before moving to the Britt area and started farming. She took a break from teaching to raise her children and then in 1963 Anne was a teacher in the Titonka school district for 13 years. Anne and her husband then moved to Buffalo Center, and she taught in Lakota for 3 years before retiring. She was married for 40 years and did a lot of traveling after Andrew died. She has lived at the Summit House for 4 years. Anne enjoys reading, writing, and doing word finds. Congratulations Anne on being Tenant of the Month!
