Tenant of the Month

Marj Squire

Marj Squire was born on November 9, 1932, on a farm near Rockford, Iowa.  Her parents were Ray and Leone Mitchell.  Marj grew up with three sisters and six brothers and she was the oldest of the bunch.  She graduated from the Charles City School District in 1950.  After graduation, she worked at a bank and then at Memory Gardens.  Marj met her future husband, Glen, at a barn dance in Charles City and taught him to square dance.  They were married in 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church and moved to New Haven for four years and farmed.  They then bought the Livestock buying station in Woden and made their home there.  Glen and Marj raised four daughters and one son.  They had been married for 39 years.  Marj has lived at the Summit House for nine months.  She enjoys music, crafts, puzzles, and visiting with the residents.
